The Athletic - Women’s World Cup

Visual Design

The Women’s World Cup launch was huge this season! Big hype around the sport and so many more people were engaged with this event all around the world. The Athletic’s very own Eamon Dalton spearheaded the look and feel incorporating the pentagon shape that is associated with a soccer ball as the overall theme. I had the opportunity to take that design direction and create assets for our marketing team.

What we did

We created CRM (Customer Related Marketing) hero images that users would receive on the country they’re rooting for and gave the general audience generic images on the Women’s World Cup so they can stay up-to-date. Developed PFM (Performance marketing) images that enable users to interact with a carousel that promotes sales.

WWC Bar Takeover

The Athletic had an opportunity to not only showcase our design style for the Women’s World Cup, but we also had partnerships with various bars nationwide for the company to take over during a match.

I had the luxury of designing the assets that would be distributed at these bars including a poster, offer cards that served as a complimentary free drink, coasters, and stickers.
